What is ServiceNow CSM module?

CSM stands for Customer Service Management. This is a portal where the external customers of the company file their complaints. What is Lifecycle Events in the ServiceNow HRSD module?

Lifecycle Events help an employee whenever a major event in their life occurs. Major event could be something like onboarding (because they accepted a job offer), relocation, internal promotion, paternal leave, offboarding (because they quit) etc.  So how would the Lifecycle Events module help with these. Let's consider Onboarding as an example: - 1. A candidate has accepted a job offer. This would trigger the Onboarding Lifecycle Event. 2. ServiceNow will automatically send them a welcome email and link to the Employee Center. 3. They can sign-in to the Employee center and sign their digital contracts. 4. The system will automatically check for the employee's location and send them tax documents accordingly. 5. ServiceNow will automatically notify the IT team to give them their laptop. 6. What is Knowledge Management in the ServiceNow HRSD module?

Knowledge Management is sort of like a database of knowledge. Its purpose is two-fold. One is to store HR related information in a secure manner. The second purpose is to allow employees around a company to search HR related queries instead of engaging the HR staff over and over again. For example, let's say an employee wants to know the company's holiday schedule for the entire year. Instead of asking the HR staff, they can simply go on the Knowledge Portal and look up this information on their own. This saves a lot of time and effort for the HR staff as repetitive queries are automatically taken care of. So, at its core, Knowledge Management helps store HR related information in a secure manner and allows employees to look up HR related information that they need.

What is ServiceNow SPM module?

SPM stands for Strategic Portfolio Management. Every company has a bunch of projects that it is considering working on. But how would they decide, which projects best align with their overall corporate strategy. To keep things simple, let's assume that their corporate strategy is to work on projects that would help maximize their revenue; in words, projects that would make them the most money.  So how do they pick those out of a bunch? (It might be tempting to say that they should work on all projects that they can think of but that's not always feasible. For some projects, they might not have the skills, some might not be feasible because the expenditure might outweigh the return, some might not give enough ROI etc.) So, they pick projects that they have the skills and the financial capability to work on and that would also help maximize their overall revenue and profit.  Once the right projects have been selected, the company needs to make sure that all of their resources (t...
